It’s a perceived new start for most of us, whether it’s a new day, new week, new month or New Year. Some of us have new friends, new business, new loves and recently discovered new passions. As for me, it’s all of the above. Jessenia Vice,  today, is the perfect representation of this perceived new start.  For she is a new friend to HTM; I’m in love with her beauty and beauty just happens to be my business. It’s well known that I am slave to my passions and I’m passionate about my business. In some twisted way I must accept that I am her slave.

 

“Someone told me this not too long ago,” begins Jessenia, recalling the words that were said to her finishes, “Jessenia, you are eye candy for me and a role model for women.” I’m betting it was a guy that said this to her. Nevertheless it’s important she comprehends her hold on people. I can not be the only one.

Being eye candy for all who enjoy the sight and company of a beautiful girl along with being a role model has brought some changes to the way Jessenia operates. “More people are watching so I’m very careful about the things I say and write because I know some girls look up to me. I want them to understand that you can have brains and beauty.” Jessenia obviously takes her position as a role model seriously. But it does have a dark side. “The only downfall about being in this industry is meeting a lot of two-faced people,”she regretfully admits, “People who are only after their success, leading them to become catty.”

Now I have this new friend, and I want to celebrate with a little shopping, a good meal and a night of music and dancing. Where do we go? “I love to shop at ADOLS, BEBE, MAC and yes at Macy’s!” Jessenia tells me. “I love to eat at Sushi Samba in New York City, Adegs and Iberia in Newark, New Jersey.”  After the meal I picture her working it off at a club. “I like to party at Hawaiian Tropic Zone in NYC, MurMur at the Borgata  in Atlantic City but I love a small lounge with good drinks and music.”

Everyone who knows me understands I do not like planes; I am a notorious road warrior who will kill a tri-state area over the course of a weekend. I work hard. I play harder. I now want to play with Jessenia. Since her favorite haunts don’t require planes then it would be a great weekend for me. Some of the girls would have us jumping on a plane just to eat at her favorite restaurant. Not with Jessenia, “Ferry Street in Newark is infamous for some of the best restaurants!”

Because of my business I rarely have time for a personal life. My life has become my business. Jessenia life is probably just as hectic. “No not at all,” she corrects me. “My nursing career comes first without a doubt and then the modeling. The only downfall is I don’t get to shoot as much as other models but I feel my images are strong enough to leave an imprint on the mind.” She has certainly left an indelible print on my mind; sexy with a clear sense of self, which I appreciate more than anything.

“In terms of my personal life,” she continues, “I’m very much a homebody and family person. I make sure to always make time for the people that matter most! It also helps if they are supportive.” She knows she has me as a new supporter so hopefully she’ll make time for me in the future.

What is the nationality or nationalities than crafted such a beauty. “If I asked you to guess,” begins a proud Jessenia, “…we’ll be here for days!” Well that would be fine by me. I would love nothing more than a few dayswith her. She is “100% Ecuadorian” which is a bit different from the usually mixed nature of most of our models. “I actually did a recent shoot representing the Ecuadorian flag colors.” This is show one way to show your true colors.“I’m very proud of my heritage.”  Looking at her now I can’t help but be proud of her heritage too; a beautiful culture indeed.

Ecuadorians have a history that stretches back to include the Japanese, African Slaves, Native Americans and European settlers. For Jessenia, even though she was, “ born, raised and currently resides in the good ol’ Garden State,”  she is forever connect to her lineage through her grandmother who recently passed away. “I was able visit to see her while on vacation in Ecuador,” she explains, “I had not seen her in over  10 years. She told me how proud she was of me and told me to keep on going [modeling] to see where it will take me. She is what motives me and I know she is looking down smiling at my accomplishments.”

And she has several accomplishments to show. “I’ve made it on the Tyra Banks Show where I won the title ‘Queen of the Kim Kardashian,’ been on such cites as Maxim.com and Askmen.com, held radio interviews and now host my own radio show on New Jersey’s 97.5 FM and been  in print magazines.” All this she says happened without management. “I haven’t heard of any model that is under no management or agency say they have been on national television, major websites, radio and magazines within a year.”

Value the things you’re good at. I heard this somewhere before. Jessenia should value her beauty and tenacity. She seems to know how to be both sexy and savvy. Its takes both to make it in the modeling industry.“For three years several photographers reached out to me on Myspace. I was busy with school but when I was done I gave it a try,” she says of her start in modeling. “I’ve always admired the modeling industry but I never thought I could at 5’3.” Her height is a plus for me. I am as short as she is. I wonder if she likes short guys…?

I asked her to name companies she would like to work with.  Jessenia answers, “Modeling agency: FORD MODELS. Magazines: FHM, Maxim, Complex, Show and King.”  But she still works another career. “I work  full time at the Psychiatric Emergency Room.” What does a sexy girl like Jessenia do there? “I work with mentally ill people that walk in through our doors with a crisis and need screening or treatment. It’s a very unsafe environment,” she confesses, “but I love helping others.”

What do her co-workers have to say about her? “My boss and co-worker are very supportive of my modeling. They would say I’m hardworking and kind hearted.” I guess it does take a kind heart to lend your beauty to the world. For a price of course.  But her kind heart is evident when she tells me what she’d love to see happen in this world. “Human kind saving the planet. There is so much damage that is now effecting the climate and animals.” We have this in common. I believe in natural law.

Jessenia admits she was a shy and very studious girl growing up. “I was very chubby,” she remembers, “and a big time tomboy! I was one of the guys!” Too hot for me to ever consider her one of the guys. “It blows my mind to see how much I’ve blossomed.” And I’m sure there are a few guys from back in the day that are just as mind blown over how Jessenia is now.

I feel like I’ve gotten to know Jessenia pretty well.  After this interview, whether she knows it or not, she’ll know me pretty well also. In this industry business and pleasure oftentimes co-mingle especially when networking so a dinner date between associates is not uncommon. I ask her “What’s the worse thing that could happen on a date?” She gives this thought, “Hmmmm,” she says, “If you called me another woman’s name!” I flinch at the thought of making such a careless mistake. I personally don’t think that would happen to me as I would most likely be completely in to her…. “That would be comical at first but there would definitely not be another  date afterwards,” she warns me.  And If I did make that mistake what gift could I give her to forgive me? “Nothing, just say you’re sorry and mean it. I’m very simple when it comes to that.”  And I'm simply a slave when it comes to her.
